Oushak

Oushak rugs originated in the small town of Usak “Oushak” in west central Anatolia, just south of Istanbul, Turkey in 15th Century. They were originally used to decorate the Ottoman palaces. These rugs are double knotted for durability. They are made from the finest quality of wool and colored by all natural dyes. The foundation of Oushak carpets is cotton while the pile is made of wool. The silky, luminous wool is what makes a true Oushak rug. These Turkish Oushak rugs are unique in both pattern and color palette as most of them have a dark ivory or golden backdrop highlighted by geometric or floral motifs.
