Get a Free Estimate for Your Rug

Every rug is different — different fibers, different construction, different age, different condition, different needs. That's why we don't publish a one-size-fits-all price list. Instead, we look at your specific rug, assess what it needs, and give you a written estimate before any work begins. The estimate is always free, and there's never any obligation.

How Our Estimates Work

Getting a quote from Boga Rugs is simple and free:

  1. You contact us. Call (415) 567-1965, fill out the form on this page, or stop by our showroom at 3499 Sacramento Street during business hours (Monday–Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:45 PM).
  2. Tell us about your rug. What kind of rug is it? How big? What does it need — cleaning, stain treatment, repair, restoration? If you can send a photo, even better.
  3. We inspect the rug. Either at our shop (bring it in or we pick it up) or at your home for valuable or large pieces. We check fiber type, dye stability, construction, condition, and any specific issues.
  4. You get a written estimate. Itemized, specific to your rug, with a realistic timeline. No surprises, no hidden fees.
  5. You decide. Review the estimate, ask questions, and proceed only when you're ready. There's no pressure and no commitment until you say go.

What Affects the Cost

We can't quote accurately without seeing your rug, but here are the factors that determine the price:

Size. A 3x5 rug costs less to clean than a 12x15. Larger rugs take more time, more water, more labor, and more drying space.

Fiber type. Wool is our standard. Silk requires more delicate handling and takes longer. Cotton, jute, and synthetic blends each have their own considerations.

Age and condition. A new rug in good condition is straightforward. An antique with fragile foundations, weakened dyes, or structural damage needs extra care at every step.

What the rug needs. A routine cleaning is the baseline. Pet stain treatment, moth remediation, mildew treatment, repair work, fringe reconstruction, or full restoration all add to the scope.

Urgency. Standard turnaround is 5-10 business days. If you need it faster (water damage, insurance deadline, moving day), we can often accommodate — but rush service may affect pricing.

The best way to understand what your specific rug will cost is to let us look at it. That's why the inspection and estimate are free.

Services We Provide Estimates For

We offer free estimates for all of our services:

  • Hand-washed rug cleaning — our signature service, performed at our Sacramento Street shop
  • Pet stain and odor treatment — enzyme treatment, deep cleaning, dye restoration if needed
  • Moth and insect treatment — chemical treatment, freezing, and preventive measures
  • Water and fire damage restoration — emergency service with insurance documentation
  • Rug repair — fringe, edge, selvage, hole patching, reweaving
  • Antique restoration — full multi-step restoration for valuable or fragile pieces

If you're not sure what your rug needs, that's fine. Tell us what you're seeing (stain, smell, damage, general dirtiness, age) and we'll figure out the right approach during inspection.

Free Pickup and Delivery

Our pickup and delivery service is free throughout San Francisco and the East Bay. We also serve the Peninsula (Hillsborough, Burlingame, San Mateo) and Marin County.

When you call for an estimate, we'll schedule a pickup time that works for your schedule. For valuable or fragile pieces, we can do the inspection at your home before moving anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you give me a rough estimate over the phone? A: We can give you a general range based on rug size and type, but an accurate estimate requires seeing the rug in person. Fiber type, condition, and specific issues all affect the price, and we don't want to quote you a number that changes when we actually look at it. The in-person inspection is free and takes 10-15 minutes.

Q: Is there a minimum charge? A: Yes — we have a minimum that covers the fixed cost of inspection, dusting, washing, and drying. For very small rugs, the minimum may be more than a per-square-foot calculation. We'll tell you upfront during the estimate.

Q: Do you charge for the inspection? A: No. The inspection and written estimate are always free, whether you bring the rug to us or we come to your home.

Q: What if I get the estimate and decide not to proceed? A: No problem at all. The estimate is free and there's no obligation. We'll return your rug (if we've picked it up for inspection) at no charge.

Q: How long is the estimate valid? A: Our estimates are typically valid for 30 days. If your rug's condition changes (new stain, new damage), we may need to re-inspect before proceeding.

Q: Do you offer discounts for multiple rugs? A: Yes. If you have several rugs that all need cleaning, we can often offer a better rate on the group. Let us know how many you have when you call and we'll factor that into the estimate.
