Rug Cleaning Service Areas — San Francisco & the Bay Area

Boga Rugs offers free pickup and delivery of oriental, antique, and vintage rugs throughout San Francisco and the East Bay. Our shop is on Sacramento Street in San Francisco, and we've been serving Bay Area collectors and homeowners since 2007. Find your neighborhood below — we probably come to you.

How Service Areas Work

Our pickup and delivery service is free throughout San Francisco and the East Bay. We don't charge mileage, and we don't pass on bridge tolls or parking fees. If your rug needs cleaning, we come to you — usually within 24-72 hours of your first call, depending on your neighborhood.

For every rug we pick up:

  1. We inspect it in your home (optional but recommended for valuable pieces)
  2. We roll and pack it carefully for transport
  3. We hand-wash it at our Sacramento Street shop (never in your home, never with steam equipment)
  4. We deliver it back to the exact spot it came from when the work is complete

You never roll your own rug, never drive to our shop, never wait in line. That's included in the service.

San Francisco Neighborhoods

We're based on Sacramento Street in San Francisco, which means we're closest to the neighborhoods in the northern and western parts of the city. Pickup and delivery are usually same-day or next-day for these areas.

Marin County and the Peninsula

We occasionally serve clients in Marin County (Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Belvedere, San Rafael, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Ross) and the Peninsula (Hillsborough, Burlingame, Atherton, Palo Alto, Woodside, Portola Valley). These areas are outside our standard free pickup zone, but for significant rugs or collections, we can arrange pickup and delivery on a case-by-case basis.

Call us at (415) 567-1965 to discuss your rug and your location. If we can help, we will.

What Makes Our Service Different

Most rug cleaning services fall into one of two categories:

General carpet cleaners who also "do" oriental rugs — usually with the same equipment they use on synthetic wall-to-wall carpet. Fast, cheap, and destructive to fine rugs.

Specialty cleaners located in strip malls or industrial parks far from where people actually live, with no pickup service and limited hours.

We're different. We're a real San Francisco showroom on a historic commercial block, we've been doing this since 2007, and we come to you. That's the whole value proposition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is pickup and delivery really free everywhere you listed? A: Yes, for San Francisco and the East Bay corridor (Walnut Creek, Lafayette, Orinda, Alamo, Danville, Moraga, Pleasant Hill, Concord, Berkeley Hills, Oakland Hills, Piedmont). For Marin and the Peninsula, pickup is case-by-case and depends on the rug and the distance.

Q: How soon can you pick up my rug? A: For San Francisco addresses, usually within 24-48 hours. For the East Bay, usually within 3-5 days depending on our pickup schedule. For urgent situations (water damage, pet accidents), we can often come the same day.

Q: What if I just want to bring my rug to the shop myself? A: We welcome walk-ins during our hours (Monday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 5:45 PM). Bring the rug, and we'll unroll it in our showroom, take a look, and give you an estimate on the spot. No appointment needed.

Q: Do you ever say no to a pickup? A: Very rarely, and only for logistical reasons — if a rug is in a location we truly can't reach, or if the customer is significantly outside our service area. We never say no based on rug value or type. A $500 rug gets the same care as a $50,000 rug.

Q: What if I'm not home when you arrive? A: We can arrange pickup with your doorman, neighbor, property manager, or housekeeper as long as you've confirmed the rug can be released. For valuable pieces, we prefer to meet you in person at least once.

Q: Do I need to prepare the rug before you come? A: No. Don't vacuum it (we'll do that). Don't treat any stains (that can set them). Don't roll it yourself unless you need to move it out of the way. Just let us handle it.
