Oushak
Oushak rugs originate from the town of Uşak in west-central Anatolia, Turkey — a weaving center that has been producing exceptional rugs since the 15th century. Originally commissioned to decorate Ottoman palaces, Oushak rugs became prized throughout Europe and remain among the most collected Oriental rugs in the world. True Oushak rugs are double-knotted for durability and woven from the finest quality wool on a cotton foundation. The pile is finished with a natural silky luster that distinguishes hand-knotted Oushak from machine imitations. All dyes are natural, producing colors that mellow and deepen with age rather than fade. The palette is what most people notice first: warm ivory, aged gold, soft terracotta, dusty blue — tones that work in almost any interior. Motifs range from open medallion fields to intricate floral and geometric repeats, nearly always with generous negative space that keeps the design from feeling heavy.
At Boga Rugs, Cengiz sources Oushak rugs directly and carries both antique and semi-antique pieces. Every rug in our San Francisco showroom has been inspected for construction quality, dye stability, and foundation integrity.
