Wide Runner
Wide runners — typically 4 to 5 feet across — work in spaces where a standard 2-to-3-foot runner would look undersized: a broad staircase, a wide landing, a generous foyer, or an open hallway where the architecture calls for more coverage.
They also function as transition pieces in open-plan homes — a wide runner in a kitchen or dining area defines the space without the formality of a full room-sized rug.
The construction is the same as any runner in our gallery: hand-knotted, wool pile, natural dyes. The wider format means more pattern is visible at once, which makes the design selection more important. Bold geometric Kilim patterns work well at this width; large-scale Oushak floral medallions can be striking; Vintage pieces with an open field and simple border can anchor a wide space without competing with it.
f you’re unsure whether wide or standard width is right for your space, bring the dimensions. We can lay pieces out and give you an honest comparison.
